In Memory

Karen Noren (Austin)

Karen Noren (Austin)

Colleen McCabe Anderson has informed us that our dear classmate, Karen Noren Austin, passed away on May 14, 2020.  Karen's brother, Dick Noren, contacted Colleen to let her know of his sister's passing.  Apparently Karen had been sick for a couple years.  She had two sons, Gregg and Jeff, and four grandchildren.  I have been unable to locate an obituary with further information.  If you would like to leave a memory of Karen on our webpage, please do so.

Karen and I used to "hang out" during our gradeschool years.  We lived only a block apart.  She lived across the street from Shelley McIntire and from the Cedar Hills school playground.  I remember when her family moved from their "little house" to their "big house" up on Butner Rd.  Karen was a good friend and I am very sorry that she is no longer with us.  Rest in Peace, Karen.

I am so shocked to hear about Karen's passing. Coincidently, I was filling out my 2020 calendar today and just entered Karen's birthday in November. While doing this, I had good intentions of trying to reconnect with Karen. She was my freshman roommate at Oregon State. I'm so sorry she has passed, and I am once again feeling the lesson of acting when you get a notion to reconnect with someone.

I am stunned and saddened to hear about Karen's passing.  I always appreciated her quiet and friendly ways about life and others.  She was lovely, both inside and out, with a shyness that was intriguing.  Rest in peace Karen; you've left us too soon.

Sorry to hear of Karen's passing.  We had some good times in grade school.  I remember one slumber party at her house where we got the big idea to d ye her hair.  We used green food color.  Not sure how long it took for it to wash out but I know her mom was not happy. Karen always had a smile and kind word for everyone.
