Cathy Krall (Eberhart)

Cathy Krall Eberhart passed away on October 9, 2013, after a 2 year battle with cancer.

While studying and working in Germany during her junior year in college, she met Stefan Eberhart and they were married in 1968.  They lived in Berlin, Mannheim and Stauff and eventually settled in Heidelberg where Cathy recieved an MA in 1981 and a PhD in Philosophy of Education, cum laude, in 1993.  Her thesis was written in German.

During this time, Cathy also worked for Schiller International University, a small international business college based in Heidelberg where she eventually became the Vice President of Academic Affairs.  In 1995, Cathy transferred to the Dunedin, Florida campus of Schiller where she served as Provost and as Interim President for 6 months in 2007.  She and Stefan enjoyed the Florida lifestyle, walking on the beach, swimming in their pool, biking and gardening. Stefan passed away in 2005 after a long illness.

In 2009, Cathy moved to Bethesda, Maryland, to become Vice President of Academic Affairs and Academic Dean at Potomac College, a business college in Washington, D.C. She retired in 2011 and returned to Portland to be near her brother and his family. She was adored by her family including her siblings, stepsisters, 11 nieces and nephews, two great nieces and a great nephew.  She will be greatly missed.

Cathy and I became friends in 6th grade at Cedar Hills Grade School.  We lost track of each other after high school but reconnected again in 2005 when she came to Portland for her mother's funeral.

When we were kids we used to explore the creek down "Huntington Hill," which is now Commonwealth Lake. In the olden days though, it was a creek where we hunted for crawdads and hid out in our "fort," which was a small grove of trees.  One time we found burned matches in "our" fort and began gathering "evidence" to try and figure out who had been there.  Of course, we never did figure it out, but it was great fun.

We also were in Girl Scouts together with Susan Egan, Bonnie Fry, Mickey Piper, Janet Dornbecker and Patty Bogardus.  Sue's mom and my mom were the leaders. One summer Cathy and I  attended a theater program held at Beaverton High with Doris Rademacher.  Doris and I were pirates in "Peter Pan" and Cathy played WENDY!

Cathy was a very sweet-natured person, VERY intelligent, well educated and pleasant to be around.  I will miss her.

Very nice memories of your early life with Cathy, thank you for sharing Terry.

I did not know her very well but I do remember how beautiful she was in high school and her pretty long black hair.

May she rest in peace.

I had wondered what happened to Cathy, so Terry thank you for posting her life and your memories.

My memory involves a sleep over at Doris Rademacher's house. We stayed up most of the night discussing deep philosphical questions. Though I can't remember the exact conversation, I do remember being impressed with Cathy's thoughtful contributions when the talk turned to religion.

She was a nice person who lived a good life and accomplished much.  Can't ask for much more.  My thoughts go out to her family.
