Our dear classmate, Kathie Fought Helser (Anita Kathleen), passed away June 22, 2016, at 12:02 a.m. following a serious car crash. She was driving alone in her car in the Detroit Lake area when her car suddenly left the road and hit a tree. Fortunately no one else was involved. Kathie spent 11 days in ICU at OHSU following two surgeries on her ankles and pelvis. Unfortunately, she was unable to survive the trauma. She was surrounded by close friends and her children, Chelsea and Tyler, as well as her son-in-law and daughter-in-law, as she passed.
Kathie is survived by her husband, Dick, her two children and four grandchildren. She loved Sisters, Oregon, where she lived for at least 40 years.
Plans for a celebration of life are being arranged by her children. It's unclear at this time whether or not this celebration will be open to the public. Kathie was a beautiful spirit and will be missed by her family and friends.

Kathie will be missed. Although I have not had contact with her since the "early" days. I have great memories of her and know she was a wonderful person. I loved her laugh and sense of humor. Such a loss. We will pray for her.

I am so shocked to hear this news. I know she loved living in Central Oregon.
Kathie was always smiling and friendly. Just a great person.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
