Thank you to Betty Flad for letting us know about the passing of our classmate, Sue Liedtke.  Sue was a sweet and warm member of our class and will be missed.  Sleep well, Sue

Born on an icy morning in Vancouver, Wash., to John A. and Miriam (Meiser) Liedtke. She passed away June 6, 2023, from cancer. The family moved to the Beaverton area in 1953.

Susan attended Sunset Valley, West TV and Cedar Hills grade schools and graduated from Sunset High School in 1963. She received her BS in elementary education from OCE in 1968 and taught for nine years in Sheridan, Salem, and Portland. In 1976 she followed her one love, Alex Lafollette, to Newport, Ore.

She worked in the restaurant business until retiring from the management team at Port Dock 1 in 2015. She loved history and solving puzzles. She spent the last 30 years tracing family genealogy. She loved her Nye beach cottage and her sweet yard. She also loved meeting friends at Lee’s Wok restaurant. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary; and her one true love, Alex LaFollette. She is survived by brother, Ken (Jennie); nieces, Amy (Tim), and Tanya (Nate); nephews Scott (Heather), and Kevin (Allegra); and 10 great-nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., June 16, 2023, at Finley Sunset Hills, Portland, Ore. A wake will follow the service.

Harold Weight

While I did not know Sue all that well, it sounds like she lived a very full life and probably impacted lots of people in a positive manner.  We will miss you.

Beverly Jean Peterson (Clark)

Susan was a friend through grade school and high school. She was always cheerful and full of fun. We didn't see each other very much after high school but we did keep in touch. I am sad that she is gone
